Padel Levels

I’m starting to play.
I’m learning the basic shots.

I can play the basic shots.
I can play short rallies at a slow pace.
I’m starting to play volleys.

I play recreationally.
I can serve and play matches with rallies, trying to keep the ball in play.
I’m starting to use the back glass.

I can play long rallies, moving up to and back from the net after the serve or a lob. I drop back into defence to return the ball, manage play after rebounds off the glass and adapt my positioning to my partner, either joining them at the net or dropping back towards the baseline.

Competition criteria:
Wins in P25 and P50 tournaments, with rankings around the middle of a 100-player draw.
Average points per tournament: 5 to 50 points.

I have a good command of the complete game: serve-and-volley, dropping back for lobs, counter-attacking, spin shots, varied returns (lob, at the feet) and positioning in coordination with my partner. I move to the net after a lob and finish points with volleys or smashes, using the glass including 360° turns and double-glass rebounds.

Competition criteria:
Women: French Top 1,500 (up to around 900th).
Men: French Top 10,000 (up to around 6,000th).
P100: mid-draw ranking.
Points per tournament: 50 to 100 points.

I am comfortable with fast-paced play and spin, both on serve and during rallies. I vary the placement and speed of my volleys, defend double-glass rebounds, master the 360° turn and counter-attack my opponents’ smashes.

Competition criteria:
Women: French Top 900 (up to around 450th).
Men: French Top 6,000 (up to around 3,000th).
P250: seeded player, tournament winner and regular Top 4 finishes.
P500: match wins and finishes towards the lower end of the draw.
Points per tournament: 200 points.

I master all aspects of the game and its tactics, with powerful and precise spin shots such as the bandeja and víbora. I am fully comfortable with double-glass rebounds and use them to counter-attack.

Competition criteria:
Women: French Top 450 (up to around 150th).
Men: French Top 3,000 (up to around 1,000th).
P500: seeded player progressing through the draw.
P1000: match wins with finishes in the middle or later stages of the draw.
Points per tournament: 350 points.

Expert female player: French Top 150.
Expert male player: French Top 1,000.
